In 2026, Prospect continues its long standing commitment to supporting and developing talent across the PR and communications industry. More than two decades since the business was founded, our purpose remains unchanged: to strengthen the industry by investing in people, relationships and long term careers through recruitment, coaching and mentoring. One of the most powerful influences on my own professional journey has been mentoring.
My mentoring relationship began in a very organic way. Jackie was initially a candidate of mine, and over several months, I supported her through a comprehensive recruitment process: multiple interview stages, package negotiations, relocation to a new market, and onboarding into a senior leadership role at a global PR agency. Along the way, a strong professional relationship formed. What started as a client candidate partnership quickly evolved into a trusted mentoring relationship that has shaped my thinking and leadership ever since.
Although we worked in different, albeit closely aligned, industries, Jackie’s experience as an entrepreneur and global industry leader brought a depth of insight and perspective that complemented my own. Jackie continues to challenge my assumptions, encourages me to think big and supports me through moments of change and uncertainty. More than a decade on, our mentoring relationship has endured two international relocations, multiple career transitions and significant business growth. Jackie and I have scheduled monthly Zoom conversations. Every month, I look forward to these and always walk away with new ideas and a fresh perspective.
The value of mentoring is well documented. Research consistently shows that professionals who engage in mentoring develop stronger leadership capability, make better decisions, and progress faster in their careers. For me personally, mentoring has been instrumental. It has provided clarity during complex decisions, offered a sounding board during challenging periods, and helped me evolve as a business leader.
In an industry that continues to move at pace, the need for connection, perspective and trusted guidance has never been greater. Mentoring creates space for reflection, learning and mutual support–whether you are navigating leadership for the first time or refining your impact at a senior level. It also strengthens our industry as a whole, fostering collaboration, confidence and shared responsibility for developing future leaders.
This is why mentoring remains a cornerstone of Prospect’s commitment to the PR and communications community. Our Mentoring Scheme is designed to create meaningful, high quality relationships that support personal growth, professional development and long term success for both mentors and mentees.
Despite Jackie and I living in different continents, we got together a few years ago to climb the 3 Peaks (see photo above).
