It’s an invaluable opportunity for seasoned experts to share the benefit of their experience with the next generation of leaders. It also provides an opportunity to ‘give back’ by contributing to a robust community of PR professionals that transcends specialisations and geographies.
In 2020, Prospect launched the first-ever Mentoring Scheme for people whose career was adversely affected by the pandemic. In subsequent years, the invitation was extended to anyone in the PR and Communications industry who could benefit from mentorship.
To date, hundreds of industry leaders from in-house and agency organisations in the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong and Mainland China have been partnered with professionals at all career levels.
My mentee has forced me to challenge my own (outdated) beliefs around young people in the workplace! She’s helped me to understand what is important to the next generation of talented workers and how to be a better boss to my own team.
This initiative by Prospect is an excellent one. Having a neutral party and fellow communications professional to talk to is invaluable.
If you’d like to pay it back and become a mentor in this year’s Prospect Mentoring Scheme, apply now.
Your mentor application is reviewed and matched with a mentee in the same location (where possible) and with requirements that can be best supported by your experience and skillsets. If a match is made, we then introduce the mentor and mentee and provide guidance on how to structure the mentoring relationship.
The Prospect Mentoring Scheme is a six-month programme, during which time mentors and mentees are required to meet virtually or in-person for one hour each month. We check-in with both mentors and mentees throughout the programme to ensure that the process is going smoothly.
