We’ve just got back to the office after breakfast at the Covent Garden Hotel. It’s midday and we’re already talking about what we’re going to have for lunch. Something is clearly not right...

Don’t get us wrong, you can’t fail but drool over the fruit patters and pastries that greet you as soon as you walk in. The staff also helped to create a great mood, very chatty and upbeat, though a few forgotten coffees are never a great start to the day.
That brings us to the food…

What a selection. No plain old English breakfast here. The choice of eggs, parma ham, asparagus, avocado and pancakes made us feel as if we were in heaven. We all chose something different and all eyes lit up as the food was delivered, it was magnificently presented. It just lacked a certain something…

The pancakes weren’t pancakes, more like pan-pies ? rather thick and flavour less. The avocado was barely there and the eggy bread, or French toast if you may, wasn’t cooked through. And at £12.50 a pop you’d think it’d at least be cooked.

One of the redeeming factors was that the breakfast special, was ‘special’ and whilst we re-jigged the ingredients slightly, the asparagus, ham and tomato mix was delicious.
All in all, we’ll probably go back, The Covent Garden hotel is in a great location and it’s a great spot to meet candidates and clients. Next time though, we’ll stick to the coffee.
