We were all feeling a bit SATC this morning as we stumbled across the cobbles of Covent Garden in our heels en route to Balthazar for our monthly company meeting.

Once in and in true Prospect style we got down straight down to business by having a browse through the menu, the forecasting could wait.

We ordered our usual mix of eggs – poached and scrambled, bacon – back and streaky with the added breakfast newbies and Balthazar favourites including crab (a bigger portion next time please) sourdough toast with avocado (delicious) and, perhaps the most raved about, waffles (complete with crème fraiche and summer fruits).

There was always a Balthazar man, complete with apron, hovering around our table, very handy when we needed to let them know they had forgotten our bacon or that we need another coffee – the lattes and the Americanos were spot on.

The décor is not far off a pimped up Café Rouge but we enjoyed it and sitting around a round table as opposed to craning our necks whilst being sat in rows was a definite bonus.

The overall result….. It’s a thumbs up, albeit a slightly shake one, we’d go again but next time for dinner, when hopefully the cocktails will conceal the schoolboy mistakes made by some of les garcons.
