Hong Kong PR Networking event - Where will you be in 5 years? - February 2011By Emma Dale01/03/2011 8:00 am |
Last week's Hong Kong PR networking event sponsored by Prospect brought in the crowds to discuss changing jobs in PR and how to develop your PR career. With an expert panel of speakers including John Mullins, MD of HR for Asia Pacific at Burson Marsteller, Fiona Gibb Regional Communications Manager at ANZ and myself, we produced a lively debate and generated alot of questions surrounding moving jobs in PR in Asia. It became clear that the market in Asia is very different to the West and that clients look for very different attributes when hiring. It also became apparent that candidates feel they need to move jobs far sooner to progress their careers than their counterparts in the west which the panel felt was not the best idea when trying to forge an impressive career in PR. It was also interesting to hear peoples views on in-house versus agency. The grass always seems to be greener.
